The Sensory Corner is open daily from 5 a.m. to midnight and requires neither bookings nor documentation.

The 30-square-meter Sensory Corner is thoughtfully divided into two zones to meet different sensory needs:

The Sky Explorium (Active Zone):

• Includes interactive sensory walls, brightly lit bubble tubes, musical touch panels, and pressure-sensitive floor pads.
• Ideal for children who benefit from controlled sensory experiences to relax or engage positively.

The Sky Cocoon (Quiet Zone):

• Features two enclosed cabin-like booths that simulate the interior of an aircraft, providing gradual exposure for pre-flight anxiety.
• Designed for travelers who need a more subdued space to prepare for flights.

With padded flooring and adjustable lighting, caregivers can customize the environment to suit their child’s unique requirements. Designed to accommodate up to 12 users simultaneously, the facility’s open-access approach removes barriers like medical paperwork, making it easier for families managing autism on the go.

• Remove their shoes and store them, along with any hand luggage, inside secure cabinets.
• Wear socks (mandatory for all users).
• Avoid bringing food or drinks into the facility to maintain a clean, safe space.

Minors must always be accompanied by a caregiver for their safety. While there are no toilets within the Sensory Corner itself, the nearest restrooms, customer service desk, and water dispensers are conveniently located nearby.

Encouraged by positive responses from the facility’s early users, the airport plans to open another Sensory Corner in the new Terminal 2 Concourse, ensuring even greater accessibility for future travelers.

HKIA is also preparing to roll out the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program, an international initiative that provides families with unique sunflower lanyards.
